military patches.

i just bought 45 military patches on ebay for a project i'm eager to begin. in junior high and high school i remember buying old patches from military surplus shops and sewing them on to my book bags. they really are amazing little pieces of design. my favorite ones are those with swords and arrows!

finding this online sewing course via poppytalk is a godsend! its just $60 and it takes you through 25 projects each incorporating a new skill or technique. i love the idea of taking a class on my own time, in my own home, and at my own pace! i may like vintage but i'm a modern girl and i love this sort of use of technology! so who's with me?

if anyone in or around fredericksburg is interested in taking the class and would enjoy meeting up occasionally to discuss projects or help answer each other's questions, let me know!

anyone else feeling a real sense of excitment about the upcoming fall's fashion? i do and its beggining to rub off on me! rach and i are anxiously awaiting the arrival of hansel from basel's fall/winter thigh high socks and tights available at enid late august or early september. i can't remember when exactly.

i made my first creation on a sewing machine a couple nights ago and now i am hooked! i love learning new skills. next on the list to tackle is learning the ins and outs of my new dslr camera and how to rewire old lamps.

tim and i are a bit ashamed of the fact that our beagles rule the backyard, and their aweful chewing habits dictate the type of patio/arbor furniture we can have. luckily, this season uo is offering these metal loop chairs that i love and tim approved for our arbor! to make them a bit more comfy, i'm going to sew some outdoor pillows that we can store inside when not in use. i found these outdoor fabric swatches here.

i was looking forward to this day, because today is the day kay dropped off the proof for my first art print design. its printed on a sturdy watercolor paper with high quality archival inks. i'll be bringing this and several other new designs to renegade chicago in september.
