fine art.

i've made a new friend. her name is emily and she owns and curates an amazing gallery in atlanta, georgia. her artists possess a strong sense of design and many of them exhibit a playful aesthetic combined with an appreciation of color. all things i'm very drawn too. below, i've pictured a few of my favorite- but you really should head to her website to get the full experience.

title: FS 2717 artist: Cecil Touchon

title: We See What We Want to See artist: Jennifer Cawley

title: Two artist: Melanie Parke

thanks emily for rekindling my appreciation for fine art!

composition #1.

i just purchased this original oil painting signed and dated '67. as always i immediately began googling the artist's name, nanine clark, to find a value and/or a story. i found nothing, so i googled bodley gallery, new york according to the tag on the back of the work. apparently, bodley gallery was a prominent gallery from the 1940's  through the early 1980's and exhibited the art of artists such as andy warhol! so, i still don't know the worth of this particular piece, but i definitely got my story.

ready more about the bodley gallery here.

lived in.

i love that though flawlessly decorated, katie's home also feels lived in and comfortable.

katie's sewing room/guest bedroom (left picture) is my favorite room in the house. she creates a lot of amazing things in this room. in fact, she recently launched a baby line of handmade goods in addition to her jewelry line. if you like her style check out her blog sunshine texas day. :)

nickel slick.

growing up i knew this quiet guy, jason. he never said much, so when he did, everyone listened. last summer i believe, he decided to take an adventure he knew he had to take. when he got back he put together 6 songs and a collection of polaroids and stories. so if you are looking for something new to listen to; something with heart and a unique sound, head to his website. you can listen to samples before you buy. the site design is pretty awesome too :)

enjoy!

yard sale find: david weidman print and foot stool.

i'm still in disbelief that the same week i post about david weidman and his work, i find one of his signed serifgraph prints at a local garage sale for $2. i also found this perfect condition vintage foot stool which we've enjoyed using as an ottoman in the loft.

david weidman.

urban outfitter's has recently added reproductions of David Weidman's (mid century artist) works of art in the form of wall art and pillows. i immediately got excited when i saw the bird tree wall art, because i recognized it as the original piece my friend angel scored at a new york garage sale. original signed pieces are available on his website here. though i would love to have one, the prices aren't listed and frankly, i'm too afraid to ask.
