something old for the whole family!

for some time i've been wanting a dining table. since we moved into our house i've been using a couple of drop leaf tables that my mom so kindly let me borrow. one was in the kitchen and the other in the dining area. for a party once i shoved the two together to make enough room for all our guests. i loved the look of the long dining table in the middle of our open kitchen/dining/living room. from that point on i've been on the lookout for a rustic long wood farm table. i figured what i really wanted wouldn't be in our budget for a long time but never gave up hope checking craigslist, trade days, etc. on friday rach and hit a fitch estate sale in kerrville because the online preview pics looked promising. we'd purchased our green finds and were heading out when i spotted this long leaf pine farm table. it was marked $795 but on top was a box with a tiny slot where you could slip in a bid for it along with your name and number. i jotted down what i felt comfortable paying and figured i probably wouldn't win. then that evening at 545 i got the call. i had won! tim and i are now the proud owners of our first and hopefully last long leaf pine dining table. it seats 10 comfortably so we are now obligated to have a very large family. ;)

these are my dream chairs for the ol' dining table. i'll be saving my pennies for while so one day i can place six of these around the table along with a bench (made by tim).

on thursday i found the above plaid shirt for tim at hospice for $2. i'm still convincing him its swell. i was particularly excited about it because it reminded me some much of the jcrew tartan plaid shirts i've been wanting to get for tim. you can't beat $2. on friday i received a box full of delightful hand me downs from a friend in chicago with twin boys! i've already washed, folded and placed them inside our baby's little cabinet tim built. all this to say, i love recycling and reusing things that are just too good to be through! aside from the bucks it saves you it gives you a good feeling as well. :)
