window shopping for the babe...

i found a wonderful source for kid's clothing, toys, and accessories today. its called tadashop. it pulls handpicked items from all over the web and showcases them in one place. i found all of the above at tadashop. too bad i can't buy our son a thing until we get our referrel which seems like ages away.

wooden toys.

i love this etsy shop i just discovered. the company has been making these charming wooden toys for 30 years and their work has been displayed in museums around the world including the smithsonian. i'm a bit baffled by the prices though. they are quite inexpensive.

collins baby.

my big bro and his lovely wife are having a baby!!! over the past couple of years i've had this deal with my brother-- every time i'd come across some children's toy that reminded me of him, i'd send him a link and say, "i'm going to buy this for your child one day." usually they had something to do with typography or pie charts or legos. well i tried to remember them all for this post, but i had to do some filling in with equally cool toys and clothing.

i'm considering starting a toy box for my future babies. here are a couple ideas of what i'd like to put inside. i can just see this little pink doll in 20 years faded and raggedy as my daughter packs her up to head to college. :)

thinking ahead.

i can't wait to have little ones, and i like to think ahead about how i'm going to raise them. one thing i feel strongly about is toys. i think play things can be a great tool for teaching kids about quality over quantity. i cringe at the thought of easily broken plastic toys that don't last. maybe even tim and i will be able to make some toys. i especially love this charley harper memory game that exposes children to good design. :)
